What Goes Into the Design Process?
Design is more than just hopping onto a computer and dragging some elements around! Read on to learn what to expect each step of the way when working with Freshly Picked Pixels.
Have you put off getting in touch with a designer or design agency because the whole thing just seems a bit intimidating? You're not sure where to begin, or even exactly what it is you want? Or maybe it's just hard to choose who you want to work with. Will they understand your needs, your brand values and personality? Can you trust them to communicate and deliver?
Take a peek into the design process of Freshly Picked Pixels so you can feel confident that you are receiving the best design solution.
- Initial Consultation
This can get started with a simple email or phone call to my office. From there we can set up a meeting to discuss your design preferences, project goals, budget and timeline. This can be done in-person or you can book a virtual consult conveniently through this link.
- Proposal
Now that we've established what a great fit we are (yay!) and I have a good grasp of the project, you can expect a design brief and estimate outlining the project scope, deliverables, timeline and cost. I'll be sure to include your preferences and design requirements here too. This makes sure we're on the same page and I've understood your needs. You'll have the opportunity to review and approve the proposal before we move forward.
- Research and Concept Development
Now it's time for me to get creative! I'll start my research and analysis to better understand your design needs. This can include gathering design inspiration, creating moodboards, and identifying design trends.
With the research portion completed, I'll start creating design concepts that align with your preferences and project requirements. Once I've narrowed it down to the best few, I'll present these concepts to you.
- Design Refinements
After we've selected a design concept, I'll work with you to refine the design. This includes ensuring that the final design aligns perfectly with your brand identity, style and messaging.
- Production
Once the final design is approved, I'll produce the necessary design assets. This can include the final digital assets such as PDFs and JPGs, producing high quality print-ready files, or building your website.
- Final Review and Approval
This is the exciting part! I'll present you with the final designs for your final review and approval. You'll have the opportunity to provide your feedback and ensure that the final deliverables meet your expectations.
- Delivery and/or Launch
Now it's time to share your amazing new designs with the world! Your final designs, if for print, will be printed and shipped to you. Any digital assets will be delivered to you by secure email file transfer. If the project involves a website, I'll launch your site and test it to make sure it's totally functional and error-free.
It's important to note that the deliverables you will be receiving are the final designed products, not the working files used to create the final product. This means you get the final .pdf (or .jpg, .png etc.) not the native Illustrator, Photoshop or InDesign file. The exception to this is logo design. All logo projects include the native vector format of your logo. Should you require working files for another project, you may request to purchase them.
- Post-Launch Support
The project is done but that doesn't mean we have to say good-bye just yet! I'm here for you to make sure your design assets are working as expected. I provide training on how to use them, will fix any bugs or issues and can provide minor design updates if needed. For website launches, I also provide monthly web maintenance packages so that you will have continuous web support at an affordable fee.
So while there is a lot that goes into the design process for any project, I am here to help you each step of the way and make a daunting challenge feel effortless.
